...went fabric shopping. Next stop will be the tailors.  I need some light, comfortable, art teaching clothes that I can move around in.  Now we have started to get into the teaching year and I have established the ground rules, we are starting on sculpture, larger scale work etc.  Had to keep it tame to start with!  So, I will probably go with my default clothing, dungarees.  I have dungarees for working in, painting in, walking in and going out in.  Once I pop a pair of those on, I am ready for action.  I may end up looking like an aging hippy who lost the festival but they have been my go to clothing of choice for 40 plus years.  I will probably be rocking them in the old folks home eventually.  I have made my daughters wear them, although there was a stand off in favour of football kits for a while.  Although, with my recently painted nails, I am feeling a little more girly than usual.  It is chipping slightly at the edges...

...it's been a while since I have had my nails done.  It was my feet that needed most attention.  I all but blunted the emery board and at one point, they had to go in with some larger clippers.  Industrial scale.  And a bit of big toe nail flicked off, flew through the air and stuck in her t-shirt.  I am sure they have seen worse and my toes look great.  I can rock my sandals now.   After the salon, myself and 2 others went to a local restaurant and ordered the national Dish of BF.  Riz Gras.  Fat Rice.  A one pot dish of rice, tomatoes and diced vegetables.  Topped with either mutton, fish or more vegetables.  It comes served to the table on one big communal platter and enough spoons for the group.  Tuck in and enjoy.  I way over ate and spent the afternoon in a food coma on the sofa.   (stock image) Saturday has started to form a bit of a morning routine.  Luke now plays Ultimate Frisby with the...

We were told we were filthy...

...by madame Kabre, our new cleaner.  Part of the trimmings and trappings of expat life is employing people.  Both to make life easier and to offer someone a decent wage-seems as you are comparatively raking it in.  Madame Kabre is of stout build, perfection of dress, and takes the job seriously.  She has a reputation that proceeds her of being top notch but rather bossy.  During our brief negotiations, in my interesting French, we quickly established what I was willing to pay.  She had bossed her previous employer, the outgoing art teacher, into a corner and was on about 3x the salary.  We had a brief 'take it or leave it' stand off before settling.  Finer details are being sorted through school and this is how I found out 'we were filthy'.  Fair enough. Luke's birthday has come and gone.  The first part of the evening was spent in an indoor bar.  Nice company, nice chats, nice drinks.  The second part kicked off on the way ho...
